Salt dough ornaments

Im thinking of making salt dough ornaments as christmas presents this year so i thought I would do a trial run to see how they turn out. It took about 10 minutes to mix the dough and do the impression, it was literally so easy I managed to prepare it all and get it in the oven baking while Oliver was still sat in his high chair from breakfast!

The recipe I used to make the dough was…..

IMG_3027.JPG 1/2 cup of flour, 1/2 a cup of salt and 1/4 of a cup of water.
I emptied the flour and salt into the bowl and gradually added the water because I didn’t want to risk the mix being too wet.

I mixed it altogether kneaded it until the mixture became stretchy, then I shaped the dough and took an impression of Olivers footprint, added his name and the date and baked in the oven at 100 degrees for 3 hours.

I baked it on a sheet of grease proof paper so it didn’t stick to the tin, and voila!

I think this may become one of my go-to gift ideas. It was so easy to make and cost practically nothing!
